Callanetics 10 Years Younger in 10 Hours - Amazon.com Exclusive Editorial Review:
Now you can actually look ten years younger in ten hours. Callan Pinckney, author of the revolutionary best-selling book Callanetics(a perennial New York Times Best-Seller), personally demonstrates her innovative deep muscle exercise technique that can literally shed years off your figure in hours without putting pressure on your back. Unlike other exercise programs that stress hard jerking motions, Callanetics is a series of small, gentle, precise motions consistently applied that activate the body's largest most powerful muscles to quickly tighten hips, buttocks, inner and outer thighs; flatten the tummy; lift the bust and firm underarms and tone the entire body. It will also dramatically improve your posture. You will feel the difference after one hour and most people actually see a difference after two hours. By following the simple 60 minute Callanetics workout twice a week, the body you always dreamed about is only hours away.

Customer Reviews:
Pleased that it is still around

I have been a fan of callanetics for many years. After a lull in my life and puttting on a few pounds I decided to try it again. Believe it or not, some of the muscles kicked right back in. Still have a way to go but 5 stars is not enough.

Excellent workout
I first saw this on a video cassette many years ago, I borrowed it from a friend, learnt excercises by heart and even recorded a tape cassette of my own with comments when each exercise stars, stops, how many repeats and so own.

Finally, after about 15 years I bought the DVD. And I am using it again. It is the best excercise for me. It is very good just before a bed time. I recommend it to everyone. Perfect for shaping your body.

Wonderful Product
I love this DVD it is low impact but very very effective and I've lost 5 lbs in one week already. If you're into high cardio high impact workouts this is not for you. Some may think its boring. But I love it. It's a hour long and you really feel the difference after ever workout!

Mixed Emotions On This One - Slow But Precise Tiny Movements
If it gets you moving, it's worth it!

The movements are slow, tiny, and precise. As in Pilates, there is a ballet connection.

I have almost every kind of exercise video, tape and equipment made by mankind. Years after I read the book I still remember a comment or two from it that just stuck with me, so I know I spent time on it and enjoyed it.

If you never move and just need something that promises not to have you doing jumping-jacks, this might be especially helpful.

If you prefer aerobics, you probably won't like this.

I can see that someone who has never exercised before might really benefit from this program.

Someone with a ballet background, who is out of shape and wants to do something other than Pilates right now might enjoy it.

I enjoyed it as one of many different exercise methods.

It seems to work fast
I always avoided this video in the 80's because it just seemed like it would be boring. To tell you the truth I thought it was just plain and basic aerobics. Well now I am in my 30's and I am looking to go back to the basics of the 70's and 80's because a lot of the new fads in excercise don't apeal to me and when I tried them I can't see them working, especially these dance videos. I picked up this copy at the Salvation Army for .99, came home and read some Amazon reviews. The reviews were great and I was excited especially when someone mentioned that it helped the C-section tummy. I still thought it was aerobics at this point. When I popped it in the player I thought to myself what is this???? I tried it and it was HARD. I turned it off and that night I wanted to retry some of the exercises but I ended up doing the entire thing. I could feel some of the exercises immediately. One of the leg ones is a lost cause for me. It is impossible for me to do it. But since I pretty much understand the feel how each exercise is supposed to feel I modify it for me. I use a stability ball with it and it takes some pressures off as well as helps me stay in better form. After just a couple of times of doing it, I can see some results, so I will do it for a month straight and see what I have. I see it in my arms and frontal thigh. The hips and the tummy I have yet to see so far, but I think I will.

What I don't like about this video is the instructor herself. Some things she said or leads to are not great. I think ( just my opinion) she was a "dying to be thin" type. She has that anorexic look like Nancy Regan. In the video she shows a picture of really skinny legs and leads to everyone can have legs that only touch in certain spots which is not the thighs. I had thighs that didn't touch but then I had a baby. Some peoples bodies are made like that and some people have to work really hard to achieve it, and some no matter how much work they do their thighs will always touch. By her standards I think most of the people in her video would be on the heavy side. I don't know what kinds of things she says in her book, but to me I think she could easily lead a young girl down the aisle of poor body image. She even makes the comment while doing the hip exercises that this exercise will make your hips look like they aren't even there, not smaller but not even there. Like I said, just my opinion.

If you hate pilates and think it is really hard or really boring, save your money because you will not like this. If you like the bouncing around this is not your cup of tea. I actually like doing it right before bed. It does feel really good after you finish the video. The 60 minutes goes by really fast as well. If you do buy it give it a real go at it; a real chance because I don't think if it really didn't work it would have such high reviews and success stories. Just modify if it is too hard; modify the exercise itself as well as the time. I don't do all the exercises for the 100 count, I do 50 for a lot of them except the tummy I do the 100 count.
