So so.
This seemed like a good concept and the reviews are great, however none of my kids (age 2 to 5) have ever had any interest in it, despite buying LeapPad books with their favorite characters such as Thomas the Tank Engine, the Lion King, etc. I've been amazed however to learn that starting at age 3, kids are quite proficient on a real computer, even on their own, with simple games such as those that can be found on [...]. Save your money and let them play on your own computer...
Great!
This gives my daughter alot of fun! She is special needs and loves to hear what she said come over the pad!
Excellent...educational and fun!
I am amazed at how much my 3 year old has learned in the few months he has had this! We bought it in September for his birthday, and within about 15 minutes he was recording his voice on it! He follows the directions the system gives him well, and we have aquired quite a collection of books. He loves the activities, and I see a steady improvement in his math, pre-reading, letter recognition, and problem solving skills. This is definately an excellent product, and I would recommend it for any child!
Reading
I bought this so that my little counsin, who cannot read, could hear the words in a book without having to go around asking everyone. He loves it, and I don't even think he knows he is learning. The books that come with the leappad are okay but they are very minimal in the educational material. The Leappad Library book is okay but it does what it is supposed to do, make you want to buy more books. I think I will buy him more books that focus on phonics and reading. The microphone is definately a way to keep his attention, he likes that he can lie and tell the leappad that he is 10 instead of 6.
I say that this leappad is better than the original because of the microphone. I heard that the pencil on the writing plus leappad isn't up to snuff yet so I didn't get that one.
The only thing I would change is the fact that you have to press the green button each time. It seems he gets so caught up in having fun that he forgets to press the button, so I have to remind him. Other than that its great.
Leappad definately needs more books!!
wow
My 7 year old and my 3 year old love the LeapPad. I have to get a second one now and this one has microphone (no noise) sounds great to me. I was very impressed with the regular LeapPad without the microphones. This has got to be the best toy for children and parents.
