The bath spout cover is different from everything else on the market because it uses 4moms' proprietary, patented electronics technology. It's easy to use, smartly applied, and heavily mom-tested in the real world. It might not help get your kids into college, but these products can make it easier to get them in and out of the bathroom more smoothly and safely.

The spout cover brings a whole new level of ease to bath time. Built using TempAssure Technology, this fast responding digital thermometer makes it easy to set a safe, comfortable, and consistent bath temperature. You'll have no trouble reading the temperature with the easy-to-check, backlit display that changes color with water temperature -- blue for too cold, green for just right, and red for too hot. In addition to the color indication, the display shows the temperature in degrees Fahrenheit (accurate to 0.1 degrees), and even offers a graphic comfort zone sliding scale to help make your baby's bath more safe and enjoyable. And in the event of a sudden water temperature change, the spout sends audible high-temperature alerts to help parents keep bath time, safe time. 4moms also uses CoverSafe Technology that improves the durability and comfort of the bath spout. Designed with a foam cover, the spout offers impact protection. Plus, it is built to resist mildew and to be easy-to-clean. The special hook-and-loop strap makes installation a breeze, but hard for a child to pull off the spout. And with the diverted access you can run the shower without removing the unit. Lastly, the spout uses a channel guide position sensor that provides consistent water flow through the spout and, thus, accurate temperature measurement.

Nice, but design flaw
This works very well but it has a significant design flaw. There is a rubber pad which is intended to keep the device in place. The first one wore down and eventually fell off (after approximately 8 months of use). The second one was pulled off the bath spout by my son and dropped. The rubber pad fell off (I had just taken it out of the box; I had two because items were duplicated from my registry). So the device works well but prepare yourself to have to hold on to it so it will stay in place.

cracked after less than 2 months use
A nice product the short while it lasted. The underside of the cover split after less than 2 months use. I emailed "4 Moms" for customer service and didn't receive a reply. Very disappointing. I won't buy one of their products again.

A year later, we still LOVE ours
First, we had no issues whatsoever with fit on our 'standard' faucet. In fact, this one works where others have not because it has an opening on top to allow for the shower pull.

We've had NO issues with faulty or erratically fluctuating temp readouts. It's read accurately and consistently since day 1. We don't burn through batteries all that quickly (as we're sure to turn it off after we're done running the tub, but it does have an automatic shut-off for those times it gets forgotten), but we have replaced them once and it easily went right back on and right back to working well, as it always has.

It's proven very useful for us, as we can't always 'set' the faucet to the same spot and get the same temp (seems to vary by when/where in the heating cycle our water heater is). But, we always turn it to about the same spot, let it run just enough to warm up (no need taking a temp reading when we know it's still cold), turn on the spout cover, and then adjust a bit from there. Once we get that green screen, we know we're good to go and can 'set it and forget it' til it's time to shut off the water and put the kids in.

We're also finding added benefit as our older child begins to discover more autonomy. She's old enough to understand the basics of hot water safety, but this allows her to get the temp just right w/o a lot of guesswork (and potential burns) on her part.

We LOVE it, and can't wait for the shower-head equivalent!

Edit to add: 10/27/08 - 2 years in, a battery change (or 2?) and we still ADORE ours!

Great invention - needs a little work, but they're getting there!
4MOMS is definitely on the right track. A great idea and a great invention - both a cushy spout cover and a temp sensor. When it worked, it worked well. Some design flaws caused the sensor to fluctuate without any rhyme or reason, plus it did not fit very well on our "standard" spout. BUT - they are a great company with amazing customer service. I know for a fact that the techs are working on fixing the flaws as we speak, and I am sure that soon a masterful product will emerge. When our first one failed, the company sent us a second one at no charge as well as a prepaid shipping slip to send the first unit back so they could investigate it. When the second one failed, they sent a refund. I highly recommend and have faith in 4MOMS, and may purchase this product again the future after some design revamping.

NEEDS DESIGN OVERHAUL
Yeah, it's a great idea....now if it just was made in order to fit your STANDARD bathtub faucet then it would be an incredible product, but alas, it is not...so it sucks. Sorry, that is the truth..don't buy it, you will regret it most likely.
