She had awful reflux the first five months and this (with the vibrate function) was the only thing that would help her sleep soundly while staying inclined. The first time we put her in the chair, she started giggling and kicking crazily to get the bunny and kitty to swing, and to see the doggy jiggle. Although she doesn't use it often now that she's crawling, she still uses it as a recliner when watching Baby Einstein ... a lifesaving combo during flu season! I recommend this over any other bouncer, just based on my daughter's sustained love for it. The one bad thing I have to say: in continuous play mode, the activity bar chooses when it does and doesn't want to work. It will often play the same song a couple of times in a row, followed by a random break in the middle of a song. It'll start playing again out of the blue a few minutes later. Also, the vibrate function is finicky and chooses when it does and doesn't want to work. We've had to jostle it to get it to start up. I thought about taking it back but it has been such an indispensible fixture in our house that I learned to live with the imperfections. It may just be our particular bouncy seat, but regardless I wanted to point it out. A fun bouncy seat We needed a 2nd bouncy seat and went down the line several stores waiting for our daughter to light up when she sat in the right chair. This was the one. As soon as I sat her in it, her little face lit up and she giggled. However, since buying it, she gets bored and frustrated with it very quickly. I think she gets tired of hearing the songs. She likes to watch the dog shake and the lights blink but I think she gets aggitated after listing to the sounds over and over. The cat and the bunny are still out of her reach. I also use it as a feeding chair by taking the toy bar off and laying a towel over it. She seems to like it just as much without the toy bar on too. It reclines her just enough but not too much. I gave it 3 stars because I think it's overpriced and it needs a mute switch so the lights can still work without the songs...it's not a good sign when the baby gets annoyed by the sounds too. My Son's Absolute Favorite!! Oh my gosh! This has been my son's absolute favorite toy/chair. We also have a rainforest one which is pretty boring. We got this chair because we needed a second one but it soon became the only one we used. From the moment he first saw the doggy, my son's whole face lit up!! He's had so many laughs with this chair. We would also use the chair (and remove the activity piece) to watch the baby einstein videos. Now that he's 9 months old (and 27 lbs)he likes to stand next to it and play with the toys. This has been the best!! Highly recommend it. It has fun songs, lights and wiggly dog heads plus vibration. Well made There were two main reasons we got this bouncy chair: the position of the controls and the security of the toy bar. There are some minor things that we don't like about it (the low volume is a bit loud and a kicking baby keeps the music playing constantly), but it is very well made and worth the purchase.
First, the pros...
Many other models had vibration and sound control buttons on the top of the chair, but this one has a single switch on the front. We liked this because we thought our boy could kick the controls and turn up the volume or something. This turned out to be a good idea since he kicks in the chair a lot.
The toy bar snaps on securely with a tab on each side, and you have to use both hands to remove it. Also, you can't attach it incorrectly, because one end is circular and the other is square.
Continuing with good design, we have found the chair to be well made. It is sturdy, which is good when you have a house full of baby contraptions. Also, it bounces easily - you can make it bounce with two fingers.
Now the cons...
We have a baby who loves to kick in this. When he does, it makes the cat and the bunny constantly swing back and forth. This makes the music play constantly. Fortunately, the music isn't too annoying (you can turn off the singing).
While you can turn off the singing, the volume has only two settings. The low setting is just loud enough to distract me from a conversation. It would have been nice if there was a mute setting that would still make the lights blink.
Lastly, the cat and bunny are a bit out of reach for our son. He was born 21 inches long in May, and he can barely reach them today. This is probably why he kicks in the chair so much - he may have learned it was the only way to activate the music.
Even with it's shortcomings, I think it's a good bouncy chair. Helped When My Son Couldn't Sleep I really like this bouncer. When my son was having a difficult time sleeping in his bassinet, I would just put him in the bouncer and he'd fall right asleep. I know almost everything had to do with the vibrating motion feature. This was a real life saver for a Mom who had to deal with a one month old infant who wasn't sleeping much. The only thing I don't like about it is that you sometimes have to keep shifting the on/off button back and forth in order for it to go on, even after you put in new batteries. Other than that, I have no complaints. I'd recommend it. Related Categories: >> >>Baby Products >>Categories >>Gear >>Swings, Jumpers & Bouncers >>Bouncers | |
